After just two games, Fort Bend Travis 2020 quarterback Eric Rodriguez carries into this Friday’s game against Spring with already 558 yards under his belt earning the title, “Houston’s Top Passer.”
Standing at 5-foot-11, 190-pounds, Rodriguez ended his junior year campaign with 3,025 total passing yards.
What stands out the most about Rodriguez is his ability to create connections with his offense making it easy for him to simply glide the ball right into their hands.
Alongside Penn State commit Parker Washington, these two have become a dynamic duo against opposing defenses.
As well as his right hand men, Kaelen “KJ” Shankle, Aundre Smith and Jarrell Farr.
Interview with Eric Rodriguez and Ashton Washington:
A: Right now your team is 2-0, what are the set expectations for this Friday against Spring? (Personal/Team)
Rodriguez: Expectations for Friday, I want to help my team go into district 3-0. I want to continue the positive exchange between my recievers and I. Last year in the game against Spring, I threw for over 500 yards. This year, my personal goal is to either match or surpass those numbers.
A: As a senior quarterback, is there anything you’re looking for within your college search?
If so, what would that be?
Rodriguez: First and foremost, I want to make sure that the college of my choice has a challenging business/finance program, because I want to earn the skills to be able to run and operate a chain of competing businesses. A close second, I want to go to a school that WANTS me. I want to belong to a program that will help transition me into a more complete QB and gain more leadership skills. I want to attend a competitive football program where my skills can compliment the offense they run. Simply, an offense that throws the ball just as much, if not more than they run the ball.
A: How did you and your wide receiver, Parker Washington create such a dynamic duo?
Do you guys train together outside of school? Or just Varsity practices?
Rodriguez: Parker is my brother. We first became teammates, which developed into a strong friendship that has lead us to becoming family. He’s my brother from another mother. I trust him and he trust me. We spend a lot time together outside of school that goes beyond football. We workout together, we do homework together and we just hangout. We usually go out on our own and find an empty field to perfect our timing and chemistry.
A lot goes into the yards and touchdowns we put up.
A: What legacy would you like to leave at FB Travis?
Rodriguez: Legacy, I want to help lead my team to an UNDEFEATED regular season. This is something that has never been done in Travis history.
