Jalen Paxton Discusses Recruitment, Upcoming Season

2020 Manvel WR Jalen “Slim” Paxton is trending upwards.

The three-star wide receiver is a lanky 5-foot-11 but plays like he’s 6-foot-3. His versatility to make big plays in the red zone and burn receivers with his speed makes him one of the most dynamic receivers in Texas. Scouts are just starting to recognize Paxton’s talent as his recruitment process has taken off in the past 3 months.

“Slim” has racked up offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Yale, Liberty, Southern Miss, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech and Indiana. Along with those offers, he has visited LSU, Notre Dame and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. During his junior campaign, Paxton had 19 receptions to go along with 7 Touchdowns.

Here’s what Paxton had to say, in regards to his recruitment process.

Joey Allender: In your recruitment process, what college has caught your eye the most?

Jalen Paxton: “Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, West Virginia and Miami. I’m really big on how the wide receivers are at those colleges and I like the schemes those schools run.”

Joey Allender: Who are some receivers at the collegiate level you would like to model your game after?

Paxton: “I really like the way A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf and N’Keal Harry play. So those are probably the guys I’d want to be compared to.”

Paxton has a visit set for Wisconsin on June 14th and spoke on his expectations.

Joey Allender: What are your expectations for Wisconsin on this visit?

Jalen Paxton: “I want to see if I feel at home and how well would I fit in there program.”

Paxton then went on to explain how he felt he performed last year and his goals for the upcoming season.

Joey Allender: Overall, how do you feel you did last season?

Jalen Paxton: “I feel like I did pretty good, I played up to par, but I’m pretty sure I could’ve done a little bit more.”

Joey Allender: So what are some things (in your game) you are looking forward to improving for the upcoming season?

Jalen Paxton: “I’d like to be more physical, get stronger hands and get in and out of my routes quicker.”

Joey Allender: What do you think your strongest points are on the field?

Jalen Paxton: “Well I can play all styles of the game but my strongest point is probably my speed and red zone plays. You can set me up 1on1 with any db in the red zone and it’s a jump Ball and I WILL always win.”

Joey Allender: What are your overall feelings about this upcoming season?

Jalen Paxton: “ Man, I’m just ready to win.”

Look out for Jalen Paxton to have a big 2019 season and have a huge impact on the Manvel Mavericks passing game.
