This past weekend, high school coaches from around the state and college coaches from the south joined together at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio for the annual THSCA conference.
The three-day annual conference offers a wide range of education sessions on both male and female sports, athletic administration, as well as health and safety topics, multiple networking opportunities, rules meetings, an on-site job room, an awards banquet, and an array of exhibits.
Speakers at the 2018 conference included TCU head coach Gary Patterson, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, and Arkansas head coach Chad Morrisamong others.
The THSCA annual conference is one of the longest lasting staples in Texas high school sports as conferences date all the way back to 1933. Their motto from the start has been “Helping Coaches to Help Kids.”
This year featured one of the largest attendances for a THSCA conference with 13,552 attendees flooding in from around Texas and surrounding states.
Among the festivities throughout the weekend, Rockwall head coach Rodney Webb was elected the new president of THSCA.
The 2019 convention is scheduled to take place in Houston before returning to San Antonio for 2020-2022.
