GAME PREVIEW: Can Mansfield Summit beat Desoto and prove legitimacy in the District of Doom?

Mansfield Summit now faces its most difficult matchup and winning this matchup could prove to everyone that they are contenders and not pretenders.

Last season Summit won five games all year finishing the season 5-5 and missing the playoffs in the 6A version of the “District of Doom” with teams such as Desoto, Cedar Hill and Mansfield Lake Ridge playing in the district. This year Summit started the season 5-0, winning every game by at least a touchdown until Cedar Hill overpowered them 49-21 in week five. Summit Rebounded against South Grand Prairie winning 21-17, however, they were going up against an SGP team that was missing its starting quarterback.

The bottom line for Summit is this: Beat Desoto and you will have proven to everyone that you are a team that deserves to be in the same group as them (DeSoto) and Cedar Hill. In the District of Doom those two teams are seen as a class above the rest, but here is Summits chance to join them.

This will not be an easy task for Summit to complet.. While Summit has been averaging over 30 points per game this season and only allowing 17 points per game, Desoto has been scoring just over 50 points per game and only allowing 15 points a game.

A key factor for who will win this game will be the running game, with the forecasted weather for the game is filled with rain and wind the team who can effectively run the ball will end up on top.

Another thing that bad weather brings to football games: turnovers, which Summit will need to keep minimized if they feel like they can win this game. Desoto is a team that can score very quickly, with a high paced offense lead by Samari Collier and Jyison Brown. If Summit starts losing the turnover battle, then Desoto may run away with this game.

Score Prediction: Desoto:49 Mansfield Summit:31
