Talking Illinois State Commitment with Westlake OG Aidan Kinnaird

“Being a state champion is an amazing accomplishment for me, it has always been a dream of mine.’

Those are the words of Austin Westlake’s offensive guard, Aidan Kinnaird. Kinnaird was a key piece to Westlake’s 2019 state championship team as they defeated Guyer 24-0.

Kinnaird still has one more year for the Chaparrals yet recently shut down his recruitment. He announced via his social media that he’s taking his talents to Illinois to join the Illinois State Redbirds.

“I chose to commit to Illinois State, because of their exceptional coaching staff and I feel I can contribute to a national title,” Kinnaird said.

Kinnaird also received offers from Bryant, Incarnate Word, and New Mexico before ultimately announcing his commitment to Illinois State.

Kinnaird is one of the more underrated offensive linemen in all of Texas as he is unranked via 247Sports rankings. As a part of Westlake’s offensive line, they scored almost 48 points per game last season en route to a 15-1 record and a 6A D2 state championship. Kinnaird was also named to the first-team all-district team.

“My success comes from hard work and pushing myself to get better every day,” Kinnaird said.

Kinnaird ion his final season with Westlake come back fully loaded for another run at state. Instead of Kirkland Michaux, Kinnaird will be blocking for Cade Klubnik in 2020, Westlake’s new four-star quarterback.

“My goal is to help bring our team to another state title, and to have the best high school offensive line in Texas,” the 6’4 305-pound guard said.

Aidan Kinnaird provides a huge boost to Illinois State. An experienced guard who’s a winner through and through. Illinois State now has six commits for the 2021 class including two Texans, cornerback Cameron Wilson from Trinity Christian along with Kinnaird.

“Things the fans should know is that I always put family first which includes my team,” Kinnaird said. “I will always give it my all every time I walk on the field.”
