The Woodlands vs North Shore: opening week recap

Week 1 opened with two of the best teams the Houston area has to offer. The Highlanders, led by QB Mabrey Mettauer faced a daunting task going up against the defending 6A-D1 state champions in North Shore of Galena Park. The Woodlands have a talented roster that includes 4 star 2025 WR Quanell X Farrakhan Jr. However, that wasn’t nearly enough to compete with The Mustangs – too deep, too experienced and just simply too good on both sides of the ball. North Shore went up 42-7 at halftime, which made for a nearly impossible comeback. 2025 Quarterback Kaleb Bailey didn’t seem to have a post-title hangover. The running game stood out the most. Starting 2023 RB Rashaad Johnson aka “Baby Bo Jackson” is primed to have a breakout year and I fully expect the offers to start rolling in. There’s not many more superlatives I can give to the secondary, arguably the best in the state. The Mustangs legitimately have four DB’s that are interchangeable – that includes Jayven Anderson, Jacoby Davis and Devin Sanchez, whom are all 4 star recruits. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Evan Jackson, who’s also apart of that secondary and also gets it done in the return game as well. In the end, it was a complete shellacking by North Shore and although it’s early, look for another deep postseason run by The Mustangs.
