Talking Houston Commitment with Shadow Creek WR Carlton Guidry

On May 27, Shadow Creek wide receiver, Carlton Guidry, announced his top-three via twitter. Houston, Nebraska, and Texas Tech were all fighting for his services.

“They give me that at home feeling,” Guidry said on why he picked those three.

A little over a month later and the state champions wide receiver now has made a decision. He announced via his twitter today that he will be committing to Houston.

“My family and the love for the city,” Guidry said on why he chose Houston.

All in all, Guidry is moving about 20 minutes away from Shadow Creek. The city of Houston will retain one of the cities best talents. Guidry via 247Sports is a three-star commit. He’s ranked as the 110th best wide receiver in the 2021 class. Overall, he’s seen as the 106th best player in Texas via those same rankings.

As a junior for the 5A D1 state champion Shadow Creek Sharks, Guidry caught 25 passes for 612 yards and nine touchdowns. His 24.5 yards per catch were a team-high for the Sharks.

Guidry is one of the fastest wide receivers in this class. He has posted times of 10.84 and 21.96 in the 100 and 200-meter dash respectively.

Guidry and the Sharks this upcoming season will have a tough road to define their crown as they move up to 6A after only losing one game the past two seasons in 5A D1.

Guidry will never forget his Texas High School Football roots though as TXHSFB means “everything to me,” Guidry said.

Houston, with the addition of Guidry, now has six hard commits for the class of 2021. All of whom come from the great state of Texas. Guidry joins his teammate cornerback Jalen Emery. Houston also has landed commitments from safety Mark Wilson (Clear Lake) guard Carson Walker (Heritage) safety Ty Marsh (Ryan) and guard Rodquice Chaney (Kilgore Junior College.)

All of whom, outside of Chaney, are three-star commits via the 247Sports Composite.

“I’m ready to work,” Guidry said on what fans should know about him.
