Shows balance and footwork from the CB position to remain in phase with target throughout the route.
Excellent feet with explosive footwork in and out of breaks. Has twitch to drive hard toward the throw of
the QB from any angle on the field. Shows good patience as a press CB utilizing well-timed opening of his
hips to match the receiver. Excellent body control and balance. Can shadow a nine route from release
to completion. Has burst and instincts to make plays from any coverage and position asked of him.
Good, solid and forceful open-field tackler. Exceptional ball skills and Ball Hawk at both WR and DB.
Mickens has the feet, hips and agility to be a lockdown cornerback and the ball skills to make teams pay
for looking in his direction. Son of former Texas A&M, New England Patriot and New York Jets
cornerback, Ray Mickens.

Bottom Line: District 5-6A Utility Player of the Year as a junior. AP Class 6A second-team all-state selection in 2017. First-team All-District as a freshman. Had 57 tackles, two interceptions and 643 receiving yards as a junior. Had 99 tackles, four forced fumbles and 13 PBUs as a sophomore. Has 7 interceptions in his career so far.
