The #5 ranked Cuero Gobblers (15-1) won their first state championship since the 1987 football season, defeating the Texarkana Pleasant Grove Hawks (13-3) 40-28. Cuero WR Jordan Whittington rushed for a UIL state championship record, 334 rushing yards, and also scored a total of 6 TDs.
