Name to Know: Sachse QB Alex Orji

Sachse last year went 8-3 an impressive season nonetheless. They finished second in the district to Wylie going 6-1 in district play and had a lot of momentum going forward into 2020.

Unfortunately, maybe the bubble has burst. Only one starter on last year’s defense is expected to return, safety James Boyd. Sachse last year had two quarterbacks take the majority of the snaps, Parker Wells who just transferred to Allen and Xavier Forman who is now graduated.

It’s going to take a lot for Sachse to finish near the top of the district again.

The answer? Might lie though in their new quarterback. Meet Alex Orji.

Orji is a grown man for his age. He’s a 2022 quarterback that currently stands a 6’2 and weighs 205-pounds. He’s a dual-threat quarterback and a three-star one at that. He’s ranked as the 86th best player overall in the state of Texas and the 40th best athlete in the nation for the 2022 class via 247Sprorts.

“Success derives directly from hard work which is something our parents instilled in us at a very young age,” Orji said.

Orji, who played at Rockwall as a freshman and Bishop Dunne as a sophomore already has a plethora of offers. Baylor, Houston, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech have all thrown offers at the star quarterback.

“Recruiting currently is a little slow but I’m still able to stay in contact with certain coaches and recruiters,” Orji said.

If anyone can make sure Sachse stays atop the district in 2020 it’s Orji who’s blooming with potential. At Sachse, he’ll get the opportunity to show it.

“Our goal as players this season is to get better every time we see each other and go 1-0 for 16 weeks straight,” he said.

The world is in Orji’s hands. He has God-given ability and measurables. He has the work ethic and ability to be great. With him at the helm, the sky is the limit for Sachse.

“I’m the hardest worker you know and I’ll do whatever it takes to win,” Orji said.
