James Lott's Prospect Breakdown

Strengths: Very well-built athlete with impressive overall size and length. Diagnoses quickly and
gets downhill from high safety position to mix it up in run support. Excellent thump and wrap up
tackler with good sound fundamentals. Will not hesitate for one second as a hitter. Takes very good
angles to ball carriers and is an aggressive tackler. Plays with plus balance in coverage. Fierce
competitor who is willing to play through pain and compete. Plays with confidence, diagnoses plays
quickly and has no problem handling his responsibilities. Attacks the ball at point of catch to disrupt
wide receiver and disrupt the pass. Can handle coverage responsibilities against tight ends.

Bottom Line: State Championship runner-up in 2018. Member of Duncanville’s District Champion 4×100 team. Was named the District 7-6A Defensive Sophomore of the Year in 2017. Thompson fits the new mold of safeties in college and the next level. Can be compared to Former Angleton star and current Texas safety BJ Foster. Texas is the favorite to land Thompson, but the safety’s visited out of state schools like Auburn and has an official visit to Notre Dame planned this summer

Grade: 9.25
