James Lott's Prospect Breakdown
Strengths: Tall with long levers and muscular build. Plays with his hand in the dirt most of the time.
Explosive 1st step off the football. Uses very long arms to bat down passes at the LOS. Stronger
than he looks at the POA. Uses long arms to lock out and stay square against bigger offensive
lineman. Striker as a tackler, gets square and gets hands on running backs bursting through gap.
Has lots of room for more thickness on his long frame. Very competitive and emotional and shows
toughness against strong competition. High motor player who has second gear to stay in the hunt
downfield. Very explosive player in the hips, legs and lower body. Can change direction instantly
and harass QB’s in play-action. Plays mostly with his hand in the dirt but will play standing up at the
next level. Explosive play traits to overwhelm technically limited tackles. Flashes plus hand-feet
coordination. More than tough enough and plays with a chip on his shoulder.
Bottom Line: Expected to play standup edge/outside linebacker at the next level. Back-to-back State Champion. 2018 5A-D1 State Championship Defensive MVP (six tackles four sacks). Named District 15-5A Defensive Newcomer of the Year in 2017. Finished with 92 tackles and 20 sacks as a junior. Holds 13 offers.
