Dallas-Fort Worth Football 2018 Offseason Spring Ball

Post-Spring 2019 Season Preview | Southlake Carroll

Spring Game Review:

Major Departures:

RB TJ McDaniel, QB Will Bowers, WR Glenn Mitchell, LB Michael Parrish

Major Returners:

WR/S RJ Mickens, QB/TE Blake Smith, QB Quinn Ewers, WR John Manero, LB Preston Forney, ATH Graham Faloona, DT Quentin Bunten

Breakout Star to Watch: Quinn Ewers

The 2022 quarterback hasn’t played a down of varsity football but already holds five offers including Michigan and Ohio State. He’s the favorite to replace Will Bowers and is a star in the making. At 6-foot-3, Ewers already has good heigh and as demonstrated in a viral video from his twitter, a cannon for an arm

There may be some growing pains early as he adjusts to the varsity game but with three years ahead of him, Ewers can be a pillar for the Dragons for years.

Position Battle to Watch: Running Back

Replacing TJ McDaniel is a tough task. The SMU signee ran for over 2000 yards and had a total of 35 touchdown in 2018. At the end of spring, a clear replacement hasn’t risen to the surface, but handling the position with a committee is very much in play for 2019. However, with Ewers expected to be at the helm and RJ Mickens returning for his senior season, don’t be surprised if the Dragons have a more aerial attack in 2019.
